One of the guys that worked at DENCO was noted bike drag racer Boris Murray. He rode 4 strokes, then, DENCO bikes. I think that is him in the picture of the fellow welding the frame. Long time ago.

I visited DENCO one time, and Boris took me on a guided tour. Dennis got all mad because Boris was giving me the tour, until he found out I worked for Yvon and TKRR, then, he was my bestest buddy. Boris was a great fellow, Denis, well.......uh...NAH.

Not even close to an R Series H bike.

saw this, actually says H1R

The above photo is of Tony on the same H1R in his Hot Bike Engineering shop with Dennis Dean, owner of Denco. Tony started Hot Bike Engineering in 1973 after leaving Kawasaki due to budget constraints. There he started manufacturing expansion chambers for the 500 triples with pyramids inside the collector, which added 3-5mph and shaved a ½ second off the quarter mile times

Ok, so this is from Kawasaki trples page above a pic of his Super Eliminator.

As per Tony Nicosia . " HI ALAN THAT IS A H - 1R MOTOR THAT I PORTED . IT RAN 10.02 ET & 138 .55 M P H IN 1970 AT ORANGE CO . INT . RACEWAY IRVINE , CA.

so I guess he had an H1R motor on it, thats why they referred to the bike as an H1r in the article

As I pointed out, tony got an engine only, not the whole bike. He, and jack Murphy did excellent with that engine, as I said, and then, went on to use street bike engines they modified, quite well.

Mixing up Tony's expansion chambers with his 4-stroke headers that had the pyramids in the collectors. Typical journalism found in our sport.

Yup, Jim hit it right on the dime, diffuser cone used in 4 cylinder '4 strikes, you are out' engines at the collector merge point. We did this at RC Engineering, worked great, Russ didn't seem to want it, so, we didn't continue with it.

I have my Roots supercharged KZ200 street single motorcycle out in the garage, that has an anti-reversion cone at the head end of the pipe; the late Jim Fueling and I worked that out, does well. Engine is a combo of 200, 250 and 4 wheeler 300 parts. Supercharger is very small, was used on VW low HP engines to give them a bit of a boost in their early years.
