I know it says this is a tribute bike, but since I know absolutely nothing about factory race bikes I was curious about how much of it is actual Kawasaki factory racer. It sure looks nice, and he says he will entertain offers.

Hmmm, looks pretty transparent, can't seem to visualize it. Also, there were a fair amount of different chassis and other pieces alone the years for H series racers, and parts got interchanged as much as a haberdasher changed business suits, but, post it and let me see what you have. Then, there are the endless specialty chassis builders, C&J, Harris, Nico Bakker, etc. If I get banned for my interface with RodH2, you have my phone number, go there and we can take this via personal email, but, I prefer it be done here, so others can see what you have, and what it appears to be made of. There are a few very good people here that know a bit about the racers, they will also help, I am sure. BTW, at Austin, the magnetic attraction device for bikes struck, but, 2nd isn't bad, points lead and second just swapped, nothing else. Jerez in just under 2 weeks, should be very interesting, indeed. |

It WAS this listing http://www.ebay.com/itm/1971-Kawasaki-H1Ra-/112381965556, but for whatever "true" reason, was cancelled. Description states, "High Quality restoration by Dave Crussell of California," so Dave (h2racer) may be able to shed some light/details?

Thanks for the answers. I think race bikes are like M1 Garands, finding an unmolested original is very hard. |

I recently heard that there are 300 million civilian firearms in the USA...amazingly 50% of them are owned by about 3% of the population!! So finding an unmolested M1 should be easier than finding an unmolested H1R. I know nothing about racing bikes or their history, but I would guess that even on the same team, there might not be 2 identically equipped bikes? Weren't most of them "working experiments"? |

It has been "low-boy" converted, and the tank is what would be period correct for Daytona, 1971. It does look very well done. Dave Crussell should be on this topic, as he did the resto, and has a significant hoarding collection of vintage correct R series parts, although he wouldn't let me move my cot into his den to live in, the one with all the historic bikes in it, DRAT!. Scott Guthrie is also a good, honorable person. As an American, I have both the right, and privilege to own and have guns, held responsibly. In my collection, I have 4 M1 Garand's, 3 M1 Carbines, a Wildee 501 series hand gun, and a Barrett M7 50 cal rifle, and 200+ more weapons. My open carry hand gun is a 1913 Ehrfurt 9mm Lugar. Guns and motorcycles, NOT used together, but enjoyed separately, what great experiences. |
