So my question is the front wheel belongs KZ650 or KH500? The left front fork does have a broken mounting lug as RB pointed out. I see scrape marks everywhere (top, rear, tail, left, right) so it must have gone through some acrobatic moves. I don't have the front axle or the KH500 with me at the moment so I cannot compare with standard H2. I am pretty sure the front forks and brake caliper are stock H2C. The rotor diameter is the same as H2 and the thickness is also the same. Regardless, I already restored the front wheel and I am just gonna use it as is. My guess the wheel and rotor belong KH500? Tell me if I am wrong. RB - Could you please attach a picture or two showing where you locate the date on the disk and rim? Thanks! |

You have a KH400 hub with a KZ 650/900 rotor, hub is non painted unlike S3 which is black, and has a left side speedo drive and left and right rotor mounts, hub is smaller in diameter than the H1 and H2 hub, the reason your stock H2 spokes fit is a fluke due to a smaller hub with a bigger rim (KH400 rim is 18 H series 19) , when you check your axle it will be narrower than the H2 axle , in short I don't see how you'll get the axle to work on H2 legs, ,,,,,,, Ive pondered weather H series wheel bearings in a KH400 will fit and allow usage of a H axle in a KH400 hub. |

Here is date code info: http://www.kawatriple.com/tips/datecodes/datecodes.htm My guess is that a KH500 wheel asm was used to replace the H2 wheel. Just a note.... The 43034-041 4 lug hub is used on: KH400 KH500 KZ650 KZ750 KZ900 KZ1000 The difference in spokes between H2 & KH500 is 0.5mm length and a couple degrees angle. So the H2 spokes could be used to lace a KH500... angle slightly different. |

This has been educational for me as well. Thanks for everyone's inputs. Yup, I found my KH500 and my axle for verification. The KH500 replacement adapts to my H2C forks perfectly. Since I have several nice H2 front wheels already, I am actually glad to have the extra KH500 wheel and axle. |

Believe it or not, this is my first serious restoration on an H2. I've done some frame off for enduros (several F11's and G5's) and a Z1B but not to this extent for an H2. Still some very minor things left but I am so glad and happy to see it comes alive. I tried to keep as many original parts as possible and the list below is what I had to replace with NOS and better parts. Haven't located a better grab rail yet so the original one with battle scars is on the bike. The headlight rim is also original with light scrapes. NOS fork ears NOS cables NOS fuel cap NOS grips 4 NOS turn signals All NOS exhaust clamps and hangers New tires and tubes Exhaust pipes are almost new from early take off Repro master cylinder Nicer front fender Nicer front fork legs Clutch cover, oil pump and magneto covers also replaced (original covers all with scrapes and cracks) |
