Can a transmission from a KH500 drop in the cases of a H1F? Would it take the complete assembly or just the shift drum to change the gear pattern? I just split my cases for a rebuild and are wondering what my options are as I put it back together.

Not worth the trouble. You will need the internal shifter arm, drum and the detent mechanism. Then drill and tap a hole in the top case for the detent.

Are you trying to change the shift pattern? If so what the moo-ster said is true. If not then I believe the shafts and gears will interchange. The main differences are in the shift mechanism of the KH and earlier models.

Yes, I was looking to swap just for a more standard shift pattern.

What...accidentally putting it in neutral at every stop sign isn't fun and exciting?
