A HUGE thanks to one of my favorite vets,
Quartermaster 3rd Frank Hartwell
Served Atlantic and Pacific campaigns, USS Satterlee, Destroyer
Discharged December 1945 after 4+ years.
Leg injury sent him to Brooklyn naval Hospital where he met the very best favorite vet of mine.... ;)
She was a "Wave" US Navy and a nurse of his.
Also very proud of my oldest brother, Robert Alan Hartwell. RIP
Vietnam war veteran killed in action. 1968.
US Army Sgt. 9th Infantry Division

To all those who have served our country be you veterans of foreign wars or not, thank you for serving us all.

I read a great article yesterday about the standard "thanks for your service" comment all we civilians usually say when seeing a vet. It seems to the author and others it has become a bit generic. (Which is a good thing as opposed to what our Nam servicemen had to deal with) He said, just take a second to ask about what they did in the service, or what they are doing now. Just be a bit more personal, seems to make a great difference.

Dad was a Vet, and saw some of the very nasty stuff in Germany. He would never talk about the war, unless a buddy dropped by, and then really only to him. I am still proud of him.

And proud of all that did and have served in protecting our country. A big civilian "Salute" to all of my veteran friends!
