Just thought some of you might be interested in my KZ1000 Turbo build. It is not a resto, just a clean-up and turbo installation on a vintage 78 KZ. The system is also a vintage system with a Ray Jay turbo that was installed on the original turbo bikes. I have the bike and the parts so I decided to build the bike, I have never installed a turbo system before. I will be limiting the boost to 5-6 psi being that the motor is stock and that should get about 125hp to the wheel. I will need to do some upgrades to the motor to increase boost (maybe next winter). So I will be posting pics of the build and hope to have it ready to go to the Gap !

That should make for a brisk Cherohala loop this year!

Go for it! If you're interested in staying true to the original Mad Max movie, you have the right year KZ1000. It's definitely my favorite motorcycle movie.

That's a 16 inch rear wheel on the bike. You might have an LTD with an "A" model gas tank. The VIN number can be checked here: http://www.zedder.com/Info/77%20KZ1000-A1.htm

and here if it's an LTD: http://www.zedder.com/Info/77%20KZ1000-B1%20LTD.htm

The significance is that the "A" model disc brake might not line up correctly with the brake caliper on the bike now. When you install the rear wheel if the disc doesn't line up then I think the solution is an "A" model caliper. If you need one let me know, I might have a spare.

Looks like one of the very first of the American Turbo-Pak kits. They were located in the same industrial complex as the Team Kawasaki race shops, C&J Race Frames, Speedway Research and Hurley and my shop were in Santa Ana.

Well, I got sidetracked for a while here, but I have the final components to finish the assembly of the turbo bike. I will post some pics and the results in the next couple of weeks !
