My RK chain with 7000 miles is in good shape, but has a very loose pin in the master link. So, I'm switching to a 15 year old DID chain with 3000 miles. The DID clip is a very basic u shaped one. It is pretty loose and it doesn't take too much to get it off. Its probably safe, but the RK clip has a narrow section at each end and holds tightly in place. I don't want to wait four or five days to ride my bike while a new master link comes in, so I am considering using the RK clip on the DID chain. I can't see any difference in the master links. Any advice?

Thanks.

If it fits, you can use it. The best thing to do is get some 3M yellow weather stripping cement. Clean the plate, clip and pins of all lube, put it on the plate, slip on the clip and cover fully. To remove use carb cleaner and a wire brush.

I have had 520 chains that the masters were not interchangable on. If I remember right the pins were a few thou different in diameter.
