Finally got an email back from someone selling a 76 for 5k....and I quote, no rust, paint and chrome is perfect, 9k miles, not a museum peice but close.

They sent pictures and a phone number.

The pictures showed the headers pitted, the header collars badly rusted, the frame rusted. All pictues were pitiful, lots of glare.

A phone call ended up revealing the following: fuel tank pin stripes scratched or pelled up, tank clean but put some BB's in it to remove some stuff, head gasket leak (all Hondas did that you know), had it for ten years but only put a couple hundred miles on it, tires dry rotted, spokes broken, cleaned carbs and now it starts good when it's warmed up, blah, blah, blah... have a whole bunch of other old bikes if I was interested in anything else.

There's a sucker born every minute I guess.....just not me. Not today anyway.

The bike looked okay, just not for 5k and I'd put down good money that it has way more than 9k miles on it. Probably worth 2k and then expect to rebuild the engine. But who knows what it really is; could be a dressed up wreck with a bent frame.

Only my speculation of course.....

Ha !!! A Cafe' racer with n extended swing arm that handles like a sportbike.....HA!!! Thats a new one on me....

I can't understand why guys put time and effort into such a bike while not doing the very thing that needs to be done to make the bike kick-ass for real....i.e. bore, cam, valves, etc....

I'd rather have the bike kick-ass and look stock than look like a cafe', drag racer, motoGP bike and still be a performaance pig.

I don't get it....but then I think lowering taxes would stimulate the economy and bring in more revenue......pffftttt....silly me.

:banghead

while they may be the most pedesetrian of all multi cylinders, and probably the number one bike in the world ever ridden completely out of tune, anyone that doesn not like the sound of a nicely tuned CB 50 rapped up on a 4 into 1 is likely deceased.
