All good roads but no fun to ride any longer due to radar, old people, and deer.
We now have a plethora of mobile speed cameras; some are in parked un-marked mini vans and some are stainless steel boxes that get moved around a lot.
The Park Police are now in the revenue collecting business as well.
On my way to work from Bethesda to Blair Rd in DC today; 8 miles; 1 marked car radar parked, 1 unmarked car parked; 1 mobile radar on Military Rd which was installed on Monday, 1 decorative pole on Blair Rd. and I officer that pulled over a car on 13th St.
You get a ticket in the mail with a lovely photo of your car and a close up of the tag.
South Glenn and surrounding is a haven for cops to catch the rich driving fast.
So far the only road that is not always clogged with cars going the posted 25 or 30 MPH speed limit is MacArthur Blvd from the DC line to the Potomac River park. It's about 6 miles and very nice; just have to stay quiet around the houses and have only seen Police twice in 4 years; Saturday there were deer everywhere but so far chambers have scared them back toward the woods.. I have been run into by a deer once on Glenn Rd. and my former wife twice all in cars; one time was at a stop sign.
From Rockville to my pals shop on Whites Ferry road in Poolsville are 4 radar cameras.
Thanks for the reminder about Beech; haven't been on the MD side in awhile and it's worth a slow ride through DC to make a quick lap home if all is clear. For that matter, it's about time to check them all again but last summer was a mine field.
You guys in more rural areas have it made; I'd rather ride in a straight line fast as opposed to looking around every corner ready to hit the brakes hard. They say the new radar puts out such a low signal that the detectors don't see it until it's too late and may not even be on until triggered by a vehicle.
Anybody have experience with new radar detectors?
Also, any ideas on how to mount a tag on an H2 that would be hard to photograph?
One thing I love about being here. Lots of back roads here with riding of varying degrees of difficulty. The best part....no cops and barely any traffic.
