I know this isn't the same, but I run a 4AH lithium battery in my Buffalo (sans electric starter). BUT I don't turn the lights on until the engine is running.

On the last ride of the year my friend's V-Max almost went up in flames when his Lithium Ion battery caught fire.
Luckily we had some tools and managed to get the battery out in time.
It turned out his regulator had failed and started overcharging.

i have a 4ah ballistic in in my s2, which mine has a late H1 ign/charging system i onstalled. been in there 5+ years, no issues. or, you could run a capacitor if turn signals are not a concern.

You just can't "match" a lithium battery! Or is that "you don't need a match" with a lithium battery................ :o
