Im sorry to inform you all of tragic events in the Dijon trip.
There has been an accident and sadly Paul Cheney (Cheno) has lost his life as a result of it.
Chris Todd was also involved and hospitalised.
Chris is battered and bruised and is now back at home.
Our thoughts are with Pauls wife Karen, daughters and all immediate family at this very sad time.
Please respect the privacy of Paul's family and Chris.

What happened?

we were very close from the track around 10 kilometers.
We rode both french first then UK guys then french but sometimes we did as we did on UK rallies.
On each crossing one of us stayed and waiting the others excepted the guy on the crossing is usually a froggy.
I was the last before a bridge and just after we should turn right so I passed Cheno, Chris, Nick to show the way.
Then there's a straight road for 3 or kilometers then twisty road.
So I passed Tartan and Alloallo and went until the next crossing on which I waited the other saw Nick, Tartan and Alloallo, not Cheno and Chris.
On the straight road Cheno was for unknow reasons suddenly on the wrong side of the road (left side in France) and a car was coming on the other side. The car driver tried to avoid Cheno and went on the ditch. But he touched the bar of the 400 S3, Cheno went ahead the bar, falled and was hit by Chris when he was on the ground.
But the reason of the death is on the crash the heart of Cheno stopped and the doctors didn't succeed to reset his heart.
He wasn't fast at all when he crashed and the crazy thing is that his bike isn't really damaged, bent bar, turn signal front bent.
Cheno drove very carefully all the trip.
It's a tragedy.

The more versions of this accident I hear then the more I seem to think that Paul sadly had a heart attack that caused him to go straight on into the car, a terribly sad time for all involved and a tragic time for his very close family - R.I.P. Paul.
