My son, his wife, and I left Heber Springs yesterday morning for a ride to Jasper via the back way. Left Clinton on highway 16 and headed up to Ponca. Stopped at the Hankins General Store and let Michele warm up at the wood stove. The Pelsor post office was inside. There were no elk out at Ponca so we went thru Jasper and turned for home. We missed a turn half way back that added a hour to our return. I love it when that happens. 330 miles, in the 50's all day, and never left Arkansas!

My son got tired of carrying injector oil for me when we rode together so he bought the BMW for me to ride :D I think it is a 2003 F650GS. It is a very good motorcycle.

Looks like you had a GREAT family ride, not a bad deal at all.

I haven't even fired the bikes up this summer, too much going on to force me to take the van instead. I'd have loved to just take off for a week or so, just go riding, camp out, enjoy the land, and the ride.

Life is too short not to ride.

First real rain of the season is occurring here, right now. If it gets dry for a time, I'll dig the bikes out and go riding. rain doesn't bother me, snow and black ice sure does, though.

A few weeks ago a buddy called me and ask if I would ride a Honda XR650L home he had just purchased. I had ridden one a few years ago and knew my inseam was too short for the bike. My buddy is a tall guy and I told him the bike was too tall for me but it should fit him well and agreed to ride it the 40 miles to his house for him. I managed to get out of the dealers parking lot without dropping the Honda. After comparing the new Honda to the 12 year old BMW it left no doubt that the BMW is a better feeling motorcycle for me. My son put road tires on the BMW and it turns well, a lot like my girlie bikes. Horse power feels about the same as my Yamaha's but the BMW has much more torque available in high gear at highway speeds. The BMW is the only bike I've ever gotten on and had instant confidence with it's feel. I'm temped to sell a couple of my girls for a BMW duel purpose but hate to break up my collection. Besides my son's BMW is free for me to ride
