I got some time to modify the exhaust and it turned out pretty well. I had to make 7 cuts to the center pipe to get it to clear the front tire and swingarm

I've got plenty of room now

It looks good from the side too

Gotta say I love your spirit. You'd have been a pioneer in the old days. Not afraid to pick up some tools and play by your own rules. Ah the 'nay sayers' may outlive you but you're doing your thing. Responsibility apart, I tip my hat to you.

anybody have any ideas how to get those dents out of the side of my pipe? I am pretty sure I can cut them out and weld in a new patch but that is going to take forever with the stick welder

You can plug the pipe, pressurize it with air, and heat the dents with an acetylene torch until they inflate out. It takes some finesse though.

That's an interesting approach Jim. Any thoughts on the best way to plug it (aside from welding)?

Expandable rubber plugs, like replacement core (freeze) plugs for engine blocks, or similar expandable plugs. You shouldn't need a lot of pressure. It seems to me I've heard numbers like 15-30 psi. Make sure the plugs won't hurt anything when they come shooting out.

If you go too far and make a bump, you can take a flat piece of thick steel and tap it around the area with a hammer, and get things level.

A guy from Maine I know used that method on some FPPs and they came out virtually perfect. He used A LOT of heat and indeed the plug once shot out and put a hole through his garage door..he had the pipes cherry red.
