If I was going to do this mod, I'd angle the tubes a bit forward and tie them in as close as possible to the large tube off the steering head. Seems to me a perfect opportunity to tie the steering head and swing arm pivot together. I might even use square tubing.

WOW! :o What does carburation theory say about this modification? In the olden days people used to add bell mouths rather than take them off, and Lectron still add those donut type rings around the rim to aid flow into the carb from around the edge as I understand it. Is the power jet being lost as well? Or are you just having to do this to get them to fit the space available and see how they go?

Moo....you don't see any adverse effects reducing the channel length so much....length which I would think is needed to produce a more laminar flow. Although turbulent flow would create a stronger pull through the needle jet.

That should work fairly well, along with about 50, or so mm's of stand off tubing spacing before the still air box.

Will just see if they work. There is no room for the carbs with those long bells.

It is actually a 3 angle valve job that has been blended.

Now set up a simple manometer made from a scrap of clear tubing and some colored water, and measure the pressure drop through a modified carb and a non-modified carb.

I'm done testing. I didn't see anything showing turbulence from the mod. I'm thinking the big flat in the mouth probably causes more turbulence than a shorter radius. And the smaller carbs are pretty much the same with the short bells.
