Jim, appreciate the post. But questions arise....

On the Racetech website they specify FEGV 3004 emulators for both H2 & late H1. Was this an offering when you made your purchase? Or is the FEGV S3001 better suited for some reason?

Do you have pics that are referenced?

When I bought mine a few years ago they only listed the H1 and couldn't offer any fitment advice to similar bikes other than they are adjustable. Would be interested to hear what they say about these new part numbers vs. what they suggested I use.
While these units will not transform the bike into anything close to modern, they do help damping performance. I've only used them with the oil suggested in the article.
Please post if you use them; I really think it to be a "must do" mod but I also really dislike the stock forks on every H1 and H2 I've ridden.

I'm going to use a set in my new build. When I get to that point this winter I will update if there is anything new/different to add.

I'm confused, which is not unusual.

Jim C. You seem to say it's OK to use the aluminum rod with the emulators, and then say you must have the later model steel.

John's mod to the alum rods is really good when you use the Race Tec cartridge emulators. here's the article I wrote for the UK Club Magazine awhile back:

My mistake.
Johns mod is good if you are not using the Race Tec emulators.
He is not removing nearly as much material as R.T.
I have sets of both alum. and steel and felt that the R.T. mod for aluminum was a potential structural issue.

Sorry but this should also be corrected on the resource page.
Thanks

I have Race Tech emulators and springs in my bike. It made a huge difference. Also I had a lot of questions when installing these. It was discussed on the old board and I don't know if anyone saved it, but I think it is important on the proper way to install these.
