My H1 reed project is moving forward again thanks to a new 3D printer at work and my new lathe and vertical mill.
I just printed out some prototypes and I'm now ready to switch to aluminum.
I have designed the parts so that I can use water jetting and then finish machining in my mill.
My cylinders will need both welding and machining, which is OK since I also do my own aluminum welding.

Here is some pictures of the prototyping.

Nice  ,I think reeds is the best mod for Triples even though I've never seen a reeded Triple its got to be a really good improvement over stock, Kawi took a short cut not reeding these bikes from the factory  .

Beautiful work! What is the machine time to print one?

Have you considered printing them with Nylon and using them directly?

All Three parts for one reed housing, around 7 hours.

I've been thinking it but the only filament we have right now is some kind of vegetable oil-based biodegradable polymer.
Besides, I have just invested in a new lathe and a new vertical mill so I want to find projects to utilize these.

Sounds like PLA. My son prints with nylon filament made for grass trimmers. He bakes it to drive off moisture first and it prints very well. Any left is kept in an air tight container with silica gel in it. It does take a hot end that will work at the temperature Nylon needs, but thats not uncommon these days.

Understandable if you have multiple toys that need playing with, however. :D
