I started it before I took it apart and yes it is a good runner. Motor had to come apart to fix the kick starter
and that's when I noticed 3rd gear on the output shaft was worn. From what I here it's common on H2's.
My Gold 72 had a 3rd gear problem and I know what to look for now. The one thing I don't like is the
reverse shift pattern and I'm going to try and change the linkage or shifter . So how did the bike handle?
The tins are off to paint so it will be a while before I can ride it.

I got the motor back together yesterday and it was a battle to get it to start. CDI box was bad, and it ran a month
ago before I took it apart. Stator measure fined but it still wouldn't start. Changed the stator/rotor and magnet
and it started first kick. Made a leaking noise on the center cylinder and it turned out to be a bad head. I took
the motor apart just to fix a bad kick starter gear and the job got bigger as I found more issues. It had a recent
top end with Wossner pistons but the crank had never been apart. Sent it off to Dave and also replaced a bad
3rd gear on the output shaft. Shifter was set up with a reverse pattern so I flipped over the linkage to put it
back to neutral on the bottom. May have to modify the sprocket cover but not a big issue. So after a short
battle it's running proper again. This thing is way loud, neighbors don't seem to approve.

Picked up the tins today and it's Purple now. Just have to get new side cover emblems tomorrow. It's a cool looking
bike and really loud.

I believe, but may be wrong, that Dave shortened the silencers on those chambers. He did a good thing with the reversed shift pattern... too bad you fixed it, but if I'm reading it right, it can be assembled either way.

Hi Jim, it does have shorten silencers. As for the shift linkage, I just flipped the lever
on the shaft 180 deg. Problem was if you didn't know about the reverse pattern you
would try to start it in 5th or between 5th and 4th. I would like to have a custom
upper triple clamp made and install superbike bars. For now, it's going to sit and
be admired. If Taner decides to sell it someday I would like it and I bet it rides pretty good.

One day at Deals Gap I went to ride my H2 and found it in 5th gear. Apparently someone tried to put it in neutral to move it in its parking space, probably to make a little room for another bike.

.....it's quite easy to take-off on a H2 in 5th gear...
