My KH400 has a KZ650 front end on it and it fit in the stock KH triple tree.
Only, it sticks up a good inch or more above the upper clamp.
Great place to clip on a set and you get a bigger front disk brake that really stops ya.
:eh:

fwiw, i have aset of these i used on my ducati for a while, very good indeed. basically infinite adjustments. smallest they go is 35mm fork diameter. they make std ones for smaller forks.

Would Locktite be sufficient to keep the right side from un-screwing under sudden hard braking? :?: :o

I don't know, but I wouldn't try it. The consequences of a failure could be deadly.

i think the clamping forces of the triple tree clamp would be more than enough to secure it.

From the photo, it looks like the triple tree clamp won't clamp it unless the fork tubes are lowered, raising the front end. I'm probably misunderstanding something.

Wow, those are similar to these I just noticed on eBay for the early H1:

"They screw onto the top of the forks and the fork cover screw into these".

I think those are for extending the forks (aka: chopper), thus;
A) The upper triple clamp would hold it
B) Normally mounted bars (Apes! :lol: ), no clip-ons
So, we wouldn't have this concern. Just sliding the forks down enough for the upper clamp to grab the bottom of these, just an inch or so, would still be going in the wrong direction (for handling). The ones Mark linked to are clamped (with no knurling) but even if they slip they would just move a little where as the extension coming unscrewed would then be totally loose. :o Mark is an accomplished machinist, I'm sure he can come up with a way to lock them by pin, set screw...

Update! I just read through the whole thread! (I need to do that before posting :oops: )

You could make a custom set of fork caps that had the length you needed for the clip-ons. You would need to pin them to the triple clamp so they didn't unscrew. I am pretty sure this is what Cody did on the kh750.
