From my hands on decades of engine experience, and my own opinion, there are only two inlet configurations that flat work every time on a two stroke engine.

1st, rotary valves, direct case inlet, maximum transfer port exposure to fuel/air mix.

2nd, case mounted reed valves, direct case inlet, maximum transfer port exposure to fuel/air mix.

Both designs allow for maximum transfer port areas, with extreme control of transfer port fuel/air mix aiming/delivery paths.

Simple as that.

Jim,yes thats my new bike with reeds and the 40mnl lectrons !!!! Since I bought I have not had time to fool with it yet except for the first day after I got it home !!! Here is a better picture of the reed set up !!!!!
