Back up on two wheels.

It is officially a "triple" again. I did find out when swapping the motor that somewhere along the line a set of 73' cases or complete motor made it way into the 74' frame. This motor is not rubber mounted. Can the 73 cases be drilled for the rubber mounts? Is it worth it? Any problems using it non-rubber mounted in the frame meant for rubber mounts?

Rubber mounts are a definite plus! And no, they can't be converted, as the castings are different.

I was lucky enough to get a set of rubber mounted cases, if I wasn't so lucky, my plan was to design new mounts for the frame that incorporated the rubber. Like John said, no room in the motor castings to add the mount. My 500 almost feels like a 400, vibration wise.
Nice roller btw! ;)

2 questions on the rubber mounted cases.

Does everything from a 73 motor directly bolt on/into a set of late cases?

Are all the major points the same between the 2? Meaning sprocket location, shifter, exhaust pipe location.

If all is the same, I can move along with these and keep an eye out for a set of rubber mounted cases. If not I need to make some decisions.

A non rubber mounted case will work without issue in your frame.

For a bit of weight savings (and cleaner look) you might want to source an H2 lower triple clamp (same offset as your late H1 triple clamp) as it does not have all the heavy hydraulic casting junk added.... ;)

Everything from '73 engine will bolt right up to H1E/F cases.

Scott, you should know me better than that by now. Do you really think I am going to let this project be finished without making my own lower triple out of aluminum 8-) All that hydraulic "junk" already has me going  .

And thanks for the case info. Same thanks to you as well mraxl.

Small progress made but I wish it there was more to report. Here are start to finish pictures of a set of chamber manifolds I made. Special thanks to Carlos for sharing some pictures and drawings with me of the ones he made.
