So with the banner bike having them and Walms talking about them in his ego slayer build, whats the deal with laydown shocks? Whats the advantages, are spring rates the same, is there a proper angle to lay them down to, still set up trail the same?

Laydowns allow more RW travel, with less shock shock travel. Less shock travel also means less heat. More leverage needs more spring and damping. And angle, well, that's a feel thing. as long as they don't go more than 45 degrees at full bottom. I have heard 38 as a good number.

And more damping means you get the heat back that you saved with less travel. :D I doubt if we're heat-limited though.

It depends on angle, and shock distance from axle. Worked well on the dirt bikes of that era, read somewhere the damping stayed a lot longer because of the cooler running.

More travel is what would make me want to play around with it.

Good reason, and set up right, more compliant.

Ya, we could maybe go a little more radical. :) At first blush, I wasn't totally jazzed with the set up, but we'll see. ;)

The swing arm length is a tad longer than stock, so we'll see how it all fits soon I hope.
