i have been told there might be issues with stretching but i asked around and others said they doubted it would be a problem.so i made them anyway.

H1 bolts and TZ350 will swap. They are Ti I think, and never seem to strip or fail. Yours look excellent :-)

Nice work, Mark

What Ti grade did you use? How did you cut the internal thread?

When I made a set of studs out of grade 5 Ti, I also attemped making the tube nuts and it was O.K. till cutting the thread; no taps would survive the task; I even asked a OSG factory specialist and used their best grade of taps, but wouldn't work. Best way would be cutting the threads with a special tool in the lathe at very small rates.

Grade 5 Ti is strong enough for the studs and stretching didn't occur with the set Bill B. tested to the limits of his drag engine.

i dont know what grade it is but the material was going to be used on a similar functioning part which i repurposed.
i just used an osg tap (red ring) ,i must admit i used three taps to do the 12 parts and it did squeak but that could have been my butt making the noise.
cheers mark

Well done, very cool. The rivet counters won't like 'em.

thanks joe , i am going for a tidy rider with some period upgrades,(chambers, ali rims, hagons) not a 100 point resto.
but it never hurts to shed a bit of weight if you can.
cheers mark :shifty:
