^^ I agree... Might better take the easy route but I do like the added 50cc's from the 400 though.
I'm also certain that if you port the 400 to S2 specs, you'd have a faster bike then stock 350... Again, if you were to go that route, you might better just drop a complete 400 in the S1 frame.
With all those things said, if starting a rebuild from scratch, a 500 is just as cheap to rebuild as all of the above choices.

From rough measurements I've taken it's up 2mm on the exhaust and 1mm on the transfers but what is the difference on the intake? :?:

According to the Kaw S series manual, in the specificaions section, there is no difference in the intake or transfer timing between the S2A and the KH400-A3. Its says the exhaust opens 3 degrees sooner on the S2A.

So, I started poking around in the S Manual that Mark linked to and found this table showing port measurements. http://3cyl.com/mraxl/manuals/sseries/sman19.htm The top of the exhaust port, from cylinder deck, is 33.0 on the 400 and 31.0 on the S2. If you add A and D you get the top of the transfers to the deck, 44.0 for the 400 and 43.5 for the S2. That's about what I was getting when I did a quick check a few years ago. Now, without trying to overmath my brain, (and without knowing the length of an S series rod) I determined that going from 86 degrees to 89 degrees would require the exhaust port to be raised about 1.36mm. So...
A) These 2 sources don't agree
B) My math is fuzzy
C) I should stop worrying about it, shut up, raise the exhaust ports 2mm and get a set of Jim's pipes! :D
Hmmm...

get s2 jugs. Have aylor reed and port them. and do heads while hes at it.
install 28mm flatslides.
install on s1 bottom end.
remove POS points and replace with h1 or H2 ignition
get jims pipes

I was told by someone who proddy raced S2's and an ex TKA mechanic that the H2 ignition is a no no on S series. Twists the end off the crank supposedly.
Didn't ever try it myself though.

Yep, that's what I decided to do: get S2 cylinders and heads. Flatslides huh? Mikuni I'm guessing. Does Keihin make a 28mm flatslide? I'm in agreement to have Aylor do the heads and reeds. He did my S1 heads and reeds. Not to take any business away from John, but has anyone heard of http://www.vintageporting.com/welcome.html?

I've had to put a hold on my S1 while I sort out my Honda CB350. It had a blown head gasket, charging problems, and the carbs were a little too big for it. But, I worked everything out, and I should be able to get back to my Kawasaki after Christmas. http://www.kawi2strokes.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=1196

KH400 iggy has the external rotor, heaviest I would think. I never hurt my KH400 and I wound it up pretty good!
