I do have adapters for 38's if you decide to go that way.

They look very much like the first boots I used when I got VM34s long ago. I slotted the holes open and made little L shaped washer-like things that clamped the boot to the cylinder, and the L bent down so it hit the mounting surface and kept the washer level. |

The short side has to be slotted and bolted with a large flat washer. I used my heat insulators to aid in sealing the boot to the cylinder as most of the gasket surface was machined away to fit the port reeds. I used case sealant on both sides of the insulator. See attached pics. |

I'm considering switching to VM38s and looking for advice- Is the Mikuni 38 we need the VM 38-9? I've been running the flat slide 34s for years, I use the stock pump lines on the 34s. Is the VM38 gonna accommodate the oil lines in the same manner? And of course, what jetting to go with approximately. I have different needles to play with- I've been happy with the 6F5 and 260 main on my 34s I'm searching all forums on 38s and all help appreciated Thnx JB |

I posted my jetting on the jetting thread. Connected oil lines to one of the bowl vents, same as the 34s. Not sure about VM-38 9? Be sure to use 3.5 slides if using UFO's, I tried the smaller cut away and they were to rich on the low end. |

Angled intake boots are Harley Davidson compliance fittings. My Mikuni invoice says VM38-9. Tight fit between the frame rails and carb. Have to get creative. I had to trim my side covers. They definitely woke the bike up, although it is heavily ported. |
