Any info on availability of an alloy rotor to replace the stock 6.6lb s.s. slug?

We tried them back in the dark ages, all sorts of different alloy makeups and coatings, including flame sprayed onto the aluminum.

The 72 holes worked better back then, cut the steel disk weight in half. Unsprung weight is hard to manage.

There has to be a better, lighter answer these days.

Well, the MotoGP guys have used Carbon matrix rotors, but I haven't seen any on E-Bay yet!!!

Thanx Tuner. Long time no hear.
1/2 the weight?

Rod, sounds $$$$ but interesting

I am wanting to keep some ole skool looks to my H1
Rear wheel is a 16" Borrani from a XS650 Special2 with same rolling radius as stock
Front is stocker 19" with 2X disks

Update: Alloy front, about a year ago. H shouldered with (hold it!) Dunlap for HD.
Tubes on both ends to build heat, since I do not race.

Plan is to relace a XS front-although stock, it is not Borrani but the looks of the front alum rim to match rear is #1 goal
#2 is to shed some lb's to boot!

Alcan?

I'll run some numbers to get a weight savings v. hole geometry.

1/2 the weight with the drilled 72 hole? no.

I have a set of "Hyperlite" discs from back in the day, (late '70's?) which, while steel, are only about 4mm thick, and are a bolt on. They are a lot lighter than the stock stainless steel alloy of the originals, and there must be some around somewhere. I'll try and find a picture, some of the guys here have them on their bikes.

I remember that with the 1/2 inch holes, 72 of them, the discs lost like 48 percent of the disc weight each.

I remember John cuts both the bolt plate and thins the disc. Drill it as well, it should get right nice and light. Rod's disks have a lot of potential as well.

I'd go with an 18 inch front wheel and tire. I like the 16 inch rear, tastefully done, sir, effective option.

Thanx Dar..

and you froggy

I tried to look up the Brembo kit to no avail.

Is it because I want 6 screws attachment?

"More is better-it's been proven!"
"We've always done it that way!"

some of the non sense I hear at work

This site is my antidote!

Well done all.
