I vote decals! :e11 :e11 :e11 In the little desert town I grew up in, guys would crash or want a different color on their bike. And no one was going to go for a high dollar paint job, so good ol Krylon to the rescue. So there were a lot of bikes repainted just a plain color and they just looked cheap. (and were...lol)

260 main , Needle 6dh4, clip two down from top of needle, P-6 needle jet, 35 pilot jet. Air screw 1.5 turns.

Heres a pic of me playing with the decal position, there all black with gold stripe, brake calipers are gold, chain is gold, just wanted a hint of a different color and it started out gold with the calipers so I continued the theme.

Hi. LOOKING GOOD with the magical -72 H2 decals. This one is gonna be a killer, and you will never ever sell it!!!

About your jetting:

Seem like you are on the reich side on all circuits.

260 mains: Try 240

P6: Try P5 or maybe P4.

6DH4. At least you gotta lower it. Maybe a 6DH3 is good for you, even a 6DH2

Giving full throttle with the big mains you have in the 4-5500 area will probably lead to stuttering in high gear. Try 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4 throttle position running in the same area in fifth gear.

But first I suggest you lower the needles all the way down to see what happens.

And regarding your Zeel:

You are supposed to have max advance in the 4-5500 area, not in the rpm area prior to that.

Try 25 degrees from 1500 rpm to about 3000 rpm. Then set the advance to max at 5500. Then go 23 from 6000. Your pipes are short, so I believe your flat spot is is the 4500-5500 area. And do not trust your stock tacho. It probably shows like 10% too much.

If I remember correct, your cylinders are mildly ported?

You have a idea if ex and transfers are raised?

..j.

Have you done the fast idle test for the pilot size? And drop the needle one more if you have one. What slide cut- out do you have? The needle and needle jet has worked on many, many motors, so you should have to change those.

Is it hard to take off, or pretty easy?

John, I have not really dug into it to far yet, just dropped the needles which did help the stuttering at 5 grand or so, I can lower them one more.
I do need to start form the beginning for sure, its set up with the 35 pilots and 1.5 turns on the air screw with 2.5 throttle cut outs, it idles ok, but I haven't done the testing yet.
Im hoping to be able to spend some serious time with the carbs and the timing in the next week or so.

Jorgen, John did a port map for me but I cannot read it or know what it all means… Maybe soon I will try harder to understand.
I have been told its pretty aggressive porting. Right now I have the Zeel set for a very mild curve not exceeding 24 deg. I will try your suggestion on the timing. Also when I compared my tach to the Zeel it was very close but does seem to lag behind and it could easily be 10%.
Looking forward to tuning and testing it, I am impressed by how well it runs now and Im convinced it will get better!

I should set the timing to a curve I will use first then jet? And then if I want to move forward from there with timing changes I would possibly need to fine tune the jetting??

Thanks for all the input it really helps :thumb up: :D

Demus.......that bike is looking real good man !!!........those decals should be a lot easier than the later style ones, those are a real PITA

The Zeel will certainly effect your jetting........what I have seen on mine is if it is slightly rich, advance cleans it up a bit

Very interesting what Jorgen posted on the advance at MAX betwen 4000 and 5500...........maybe I will try that to some degree, but I think will be lean in that spot if I do........I did try similar, it was good for performance.........I justed posted some plug PIC's and stuff in the jetting squish head post.......it looks marginally lean, too much advance maybe......or maybe OK.......I am gonna keep testing

You are gonna have a bit of trial and error.......his jetting sounds about right guessing

THX Phil

Hi.
Did a little road test yesterday.

Test 1:
21 degrees flat. Had a point in 70 km/h 4.gear. Slightly uphill.
Next point I had 125 km/h.

Test 2:

Same points, but with my custom curve.

Now, I had 137 km/h.

That's a big difference.

Test was done to see what effect advanced timing has for low and mid range.

Guess a 23 flat will give a result in between.

You have the most gain from Zeel by going advanced in expecially mid range. The value depending on what durations and most of all, how aggressive your pipes are regarding the returning wave.

Try 27 if that is max, and keep the 25 value before that rpm. You will notice

Looking great but, I vote for painting the side covers orange, before applying the decals and shooting the clear over them. Nice bike, did you install tapered rollers in the steering head and bronze bushings in the swingarm. Also slightly longer rear shocks help, but yes you'll get addicted to the H2 powerband and you'll find they handle much better than the Myth!!!!
