Maybe another day or two.

I couldn't get spark. My regulator/rectifier tested bad, and I believe it needs it to spark (weird CDI setup). New one came in today but I haven't tried it yet.

I also had problems with the other 2 pipes. So I took them to the welding shop today for mods.

well summer's almost here. ..I bought a Lakeland regulator, put it on and still no fire. So i found a test for the CDIs off the internet and they test bad. I tested them before, but the test out of that old chiltons has several steps and..... So as soon as I scrape up enough $$ for a CDI box (going with lakeland again), renew insurance and plate sticker, and a new chain, and build rear hangers for the exhaust, i'll get some videos of some wheelies on here :o

Why not? Broken motor in the donor.Cheap H1 motor = Heavier, uglier bike than a H1, but better than a stock GT.

Why? My 550 engine gave it's last breath, so i went looking on craigslist for a donor engine and found a H1 with no title for a good price. Not stolen, it was a guys unfinished mono shock track bike project. I still have less than $1000 in this bike. :e11

Yellowsnow, have you been through the test procedure on the resource site? http://www.kawtriple.com/mraxl/cdilate/latecditest.htm I guess this news is a little late, but the regulator is in the 12V charging system, and completely separate from the ignition system on a late H1 (1974 on).

i traded a $250 three wheeler and a honda elsinore 250 i got for free and got running the same day, straight trade for the GT 550. And i paid $650 for the H1 donor, $160 for the regulator, sooo just a hair over a grand.
