The locating pin was pushed up right through the top of the engine case. Is there some way of fixing this or is the engine case now garbage?

This is the locating pin in the transmission holding the top shaft in place.

You can take a small drift punch and tap it carefully back in place from the other outer case side. I did this on mine years ago and it has held up well. A little JB Weld in the outer case hole side and Robert is your uncle.

I had considered this but did not know if it would hold. I thought/hoped someone here would have dealt with this before. I will go ahead and do it with JB Weld.

Thank you to all
