I was trying to fire up the '66 W1 I have and after doing the test in the manual I found I have a bad coil. Can I use one of the coils from my '76 900 LTD to see if it will fire? If I can't find a decent original coil for it can I use any 12v coil that has two leads and will fit? Thanks

Generally, use points coils to replace points coil... CDI coils for CDI. CDI coils will have less than 1 ohm primary while points coils have >2ohms. One exception is early H1 CDI.

The KZ coil should work just fine, but, don't use the KZ resistor plug caps.
