I know most run the NGK B9HS. When I hit the dealer for a fresh set, he suggested trying their BR9EG. The longer threaded portion kept me from trying them, wasn't sure about clearance to the piston top. Has anyone run these? Wondered if they were worth the six dollar price tag per plug. He said the narrower center electrode made the spark tighter and less likely to blow out? He also had NGK's top dog for our app, a BR10EIX, ten bucks a pop. Seemed the more you spent, the thinner the center electrode was. As with everything else around us, I guess even spark plug manufacturers have made improvements to their products. Although the B9HS works fine, I wondered if there were gains to be had with his suggestion and if any here had tried them with success. |

I'm not familiar with the BR9EG, but if the threaded section were longer, I wouldn't use them. Exposed threads get gunky and can be difficult to remove. Even worse, they are resistor plugs, which are not recommended in triples. The BR10EIX is also a resistor plug, not for triples. I'd smile and back slowly away from this dealer, and figure he knows nothing about the old triples. B9HS plugs are well known to work very well in triples. I've used the B9HV wire electrode version and they also work very well. I got them because they were cheap on eBay. |
