I need to replace the left side crank seal on my 73 S1. I know that the seals are designed to be installed with the cases split. Is there a procedure to install the seal so that it will stay in place? Thank you in advance. Firstbike.

Thanks guys! Great video, I didn't know about chamfering the case where the seal sits.

I watched ja-moo's excellent video (above) a while ago, although it's not really relevant for those of us with the twins. It did occur to me though - wouldn't it be safer to do your chamfering with the old seal still in place, to reduce the risk of getting metal shavings in the bearing?

Any way that keeps metal out of the bearing works!
