So, I've got my cases apart. I am looking for guidance on what I am looking for as I am not a gearbox expert. My problems were it was getting very difficult to get into 1st gear and sometimes 2nd. It occasionally jumped out of third, particularly under hard load. As I suspected, I found the low end shift fork severely worn on the tip. All gear teeth look great. The dogs don't look very worn to me, but the drive shaft 3rd gear (item 22 on my drawing) dogs appear to have pieces chipped off (on the side that meets the top gear (item 23). I don't really understand how all these gearset work together.
So, I am assuming the shift fork is my 1st & 2nd gear problem and the dog issue is my 3rd gear problem. Does that add up to you experts? What else should I be looking for. I really don't want to miss anything.
Thanks.
As always, you guys are a world of help! I will try to get my daughter to help me make a short video of what I am seeing.

If the fork have any wear, they need to be fixed or replaced. Some discoloration is fine. If there is any rounding/damage of any of the shift dogs or windows, then the gears need replacing. And you need to shim the transmission correctly.
