PK, I noticed you ended up with one C3 with the rest being C4, obviously no issues mixing them up like that?
I finally got my quote... $125 for all 6 but 6 weeks delivery. :(
I shouldn't have procrastinated!

Pretty sure those karting sites included one of the ones I posted at the Canuck site Andrew.
But you didnt want to use sellers you did not trust.
I guess PK trusted them eh?

LOL

Steve, if you bought as many bearings as I have at work, you'd realize that there are allot of old stock, repackaged and counterfeit bearing houses out there. It's is as common of a scam as people selling Chinese fake fasteners. They get away with it because 90% of the time, people don't have the bearings in an extreme environment.
Besides, I didn't say your links were to crooked suppliers, I just said I was going to buy them through a company that I trust and use all the time. :thumbup:

You also know I'm the stubborn guy.. I get something in my head and I rarely waver!

Naaaw you reved me up more when you told me to google the bearing number... I typed "no $hit Sherlock" then deleted it twice.... I felt it was a good plan that I didn't piss you off until after you shipped my carbs! Since we are sharing. :mrgreen:

Yes, I just couldn't find a 6305N or 6305NR with C4 clearance.

I assume you are planning to do the same as I did; remove the steel cage on a 6305N and replace with a polyamide cage?
Did you manage to find a 6305N/C4?

Another option is to grind a snap ring groove in a 6305TN9/C4.
Back in 2008 Steve Makin at Simply Bearings UK made me an offer to grind snap ring grooves for £15 per bearing.

Also, Leo on this board told me that it's possible to turn this groove in a lathe using the right cutting tools and speed.

No luck finding the C4 bearing with snap ring groove either!
Again, great idea machining the snap ring groove I believe we are equipped to do hard turning at work. That will give me 2 chances to get it right with the components I purchased.

Just a note on machining a groove into the bear, I just got my two gear box bearings machined out to suit the C clip width and depth with awesome results :thumbup: . It will pay to have and old correct bearing and the C clip for them to measure. The guys at the machine shop are classic motorbike nuts and do this all the time, ceramic tipped tools I believe

excerpt from https://www.abf.store/s/en/bearings/NJ2 ... YR/1204429

Brand
Steyr
Item Number
NJ205E/TGP1/C3 Steyr
Technical details (E/TGP1/C3)
E=Increased Load Capacity. TGP1=Solid Cage Of Glass-Fibre Reinforced Polyamide, Ball Riding. C3=Internal Clearance Larger Than Normal.
Category
Cylindrical Roller Bearing Single Row

I see ->

C3 is already a "Larger Than Normal Clearance" So I think C3 OK

E = "Increased Load Capacity"

Dang this is great post, I wish I read it before I had my crank redone. I used all OEM bearings.

Sounds like I should look for a second crank soon as I may only have a few K miles of fun if I ride her frisky.
