Hey guys,

I haven't posted in quite sometime, but I'm finally gaining some headway on my little S3 project. Here is a pic from a earlier in the year....

Over the past few days, I've put in a few hours tinkering away, and re-assembling the pieces. I had this down to the frame at one point! Anyway, I was having some electrical problems so I ignored the bike for 4 months, procrastinating the tedious task of hunting down an elx gremlin. I had this weekend off and decided to take a crack at it.

This bike hasn't run yet (post full engine overhaul), so the immediate problem was that the lights weren't staying steady and the tail light was often flicking on/off. Connections seemed fine, so I started at the front, behind the headlight and worked my way back.
I found a few connections that were really pinched at the connectors. I guess the last time I replaced the headlight I was impatient and jammed it on. No slices, just crimped. Fixed those. My "on-po-off" is slightly loose, so I threw some dielectric grease in there and it seems better.

My rear brake light switch's spring was too tight, keeping the light on (flickering)- draining power to the headlight/blinkers. That took some time to source since I thought the tail light was on 'like normal'. The next item also caused the tail light to be glitchy.

But lastly, the thing that really made my brain hurt was the ignition switch. It had an intermittent connection due to the fact it was coming apart. :?
Here is the switch right after I 'closed it'

What had happened was it was separating along the yellow line; so the terminals were kinda touching. I pushed in with a screw driver on the tabs (noted by green arrow) and all seems good now.

Now all I have to do is wait for a fresh battery to get this project complete. I really hope all the other electrical stuff (coils, etc) are in good shape. I'm close to kicking this puppy over!!

FYI....when I had my H2B frame powder coated......had to grind to fresh metal where the coils mount under the tank so they are grounded......and of course were the two grounds go behind the battery under the seat
