Why use lab seals when a rubber seal will still be good when we are all dead on gone?

Good point. And I'm not racing, won't be visiting the Isle of Man for a ride.

I guess the argument for them is there is no degradation over the years. Who is to say that current gasoline won't harden rubber seals in ten years? But I'm not a fanatic about it.

Yamaha RD250 and 350 street engines had aluminum center seals their entire run, as did the TZ race models, they work, and they are what I make from scratch for all my centers that do not have to seal transmission oils off the crankshafts. Only need to do them ONCE.
