Well my intention is to try and keep the stock unit to fit the flavor of the project. It is a mod bike but I would like to keep as many stock parts on it as I can so I would rather not use the pingle. I understand the vacuum system is supposed to keep the thing from hydrolocking. That being said, no other bikes use them! I have carbs that at the moment do not have vacuum ports. I guess I will try and mod the thing and block it off. I also read how the pingle is also a pain in arse. I just wondered if anyone has ever done this?! |

I don't understand why you need a "mod" for your petcock to work???? If it is in "ON" position without a vacuum line no fuel will flow... same as "off". In "PRI" position fuel will flow. And you still have reserve. |

Whenever I need to drain my fuel tank I just connect a hose that runs into a can and put the petcock on PRI. It empties completely, no reserve left. PK |

I stand corrected.... no reserve without vacuum. |

That is what I needed to know. All I want is off and on and to look stock. Not worried about no reserve either. I have never been around these bikes and this one wasn't working when we got it so I didn't realize how the petcock actually worked so I asked you guys. I was an RD/YZ type guy so I am familiar with hydro lock potential but off is off regardless if it is vacuum or mechanical. Thanks for all the input. This bike is a collection of several baskets of parts so I have my work cut out for me. It will be great to get it back to working order though. Next year I think. |
