I used a nos 4 hole gasket and it failed, than I bought a brand new original Kawasaki 4 hole gasket, it dissolved in a short time.
I went for a new Suzuki 4 hole gasket, and it is ok until now, but I don't move the lever....I don't trust it anymore.
I use Shell V-Power fuel that contains zero to 2% ethanol where I live...all other brands contain up to 8% ethanol.....altough only 5% is allowed by law....

4 hole gaskets can be hand stamped out of .107in. (possible sold as 1/8 in) viton sheet. I've been using one since 2005. A very light smear of silicone fuel resistant grease helps too.

My KH500 1976 is new to me, It has not run in 25 years, The petcock pours fully in the prime position but trickles about 1/2 the volume of fuel in the other two positions. The diaphram is not broken or hard but kind of stretched. Is no fuel to pass through with-out engine vacume while running and is the aged diaphram the likely problem? Where do I get a new diaphram?

The diaphragms usually are not the problem. Is the o-ring on the plunger that's attached to the diaphragm intact? I can be replaced with an industry #007 Viton O-ring. Also, if the 4-hole gasket is ripped, it can flow when it's not supposed to. I understand that 4-hole gasket was also used on the Suzuki GT750, and is 1/2 the price from Suzuki as it is from Kawasaki.

I just went through this. I used a 1200 grit sandpaper on a flat surface and lapped the lever's sealing surface to a near mirror finish. Leak fixed plus the lever is easier to turn now. Thanks to the OP for the tip.

Bike started for the first time this morning :)
