It would be nice if one of you that have purchased one of these kits, would take the time, when you install one, to measure BOTH the original, unmodified end cap, and the kit end cap, then post those change dimensions for Dale to archive on the resources site.

I would also think that if someone had a later model pump apart as well, they could measure and record, and post them as well, to confirm/deny the later caps are the same as the kit part cap.

This would give all of us a 3 cap clear dimension reference point to consider/compare/discuss.

Earlier I said I'd post drawings of an old '72 cap and the replacement cap. When I took my old cap off a few days ago to replace it, I found that the previous owner had beaten me to it. That surprised me, since I am the 2nd owner, and got the bike in '78. Maybe the dealers did free replacements when the new caps came out.

I can tell you that the drawings in the service bulletin are good ones, but of course lack a couple of the dimensions they need to be useful for modifying old type caps. The modification would be complicated, since the new caps have a smaller I.D.. The bulletin says that the problems start when the O-ring shrinks with age. Possibly choosing an appropriately sized Viton O-ring would eliminate the shrinkage and allow the use of the old type caps. Also, looking at the exhaust pipe exits from the rear, with the engine running, in direct sunlight once in a while is good practice.

I just pulled apart a '70 H1 pump, that didn't have the mod, and a '72 H2 pump that did have it, so I guess the factory made the mod pretty early on. What is it exactly that makes a H2 pump put out more oil than a H1? I'm thinking of using the H2 modded end on the H1 pump - I believe the mod. kit was the same part no. for both pumps........?

This will answer most of your questions, Rod: http://kawasakitriplesworldwide.com/triples/workshop/Jpg/M6-H2.jpg

Dale has all the service bulletins on the resource site.
