I put a stainless steel Swagelok 1/4 turn valve in the oil line. It has a switch to kill the ignition unless it's fully open. I know that if my check valves are working correctly I don't need the shutoff valve, but I got tired of working on them to keep them doing their job perfectly.

I toss the oil valve reed blocks and use a hand cut gasket. No need for gorilla snot as the gasket paper seals fine. Here is a picture of how the general public normally deals with it.
