My tail light bulb is constantly burning out. Is this common? It's insured but I have no license plate yet and don't need the extra attention. The headlight does not fail on a regular basis nor any instrument lamps. I don't run blinkers. Thanks |

Have you looked at charging voltage? |

Often it is vibration, the rubber on the mounts gets old and hard, and sometimes when people have had the tail light off they have assembled it so the is no wiggle. Grab the light and see if the whole assembly moves freely. If not come up with some way to give it some flex. |

Q. Does it "seem" to be OK at idle etc but when you get out and rev it (or rev bunches while parked) does it blow? |

Another thing to check is the bulb number. An 1157 is much more rugged than a 1034, but they are both dual filament tail/stop bulbs. |

H2's shake like a dog - it all goes out the back! I have seen tail-piece mounting tabs fracture off a frame, (and a tail-piece). I would try rubber mounting the tail-piece to the frame, and also the 1157 bulb. |

I remember that one of our cars back in the '60s had 1034s in the rear lights. The filaments would fall off if you slammed the trunk too hard. When Dad figured out what the problem was, we made sure to buy 1157s from then on. |
