I have a 73' h1d and it starts easily and idles and revs great. The problem is it seems to not get enough gas because it revs up to about 4 grand and then has a moan to it after 4 grand and no power after that. There is plenty of smoke at wide open throttle which I guess is the injector is pumping what it should but I'm thinking it's not getting enough fuel. Ive had the carbs off twice and cleaned them really good with carb cleaner and compressed air. I took a compression check and all cyls were at 152 lbs. Any thoughts would be cool. Thanks! |

If its been standing for a year or two you need to strip the carbs down, all the jets out and cleaned till you can see through the holes (you might need to push a pin through to clear) just carb cleaner and air will not do it while in place |

So yes, undersized jets can melt a motor. Memorize this page http://kawtriple.com/mraxl/carb/carbadj.htm |

Other things to check and in this order (IMO) * Clogged air filter * Clogged stock exausts (remove and clean; I use kerosene or mineral spirits) * Ignition timing |

I want to add that it could be a goobered up petcock that just won't flow enough fuel. You should check everything to avoid burning up a piston. |
