I couldn't get an accurate leak down test because I had several top end gasket leaks. So i will be replacing top end gaskets and rings.

It idled fine and didn't burn tranny fluid even with the leaks. So i had this idea that while the top end is off i would fill the crank areas with a seal conditioner to soften the old seals. And then when all put together do a real leak down test.

Any thoughts on this idea? I'm planning on saving for a full rebuild next winter. So this is to just get me through the summer. The idea seams logical.
I was also reading an article that said synthetic oil tends to dry seal and castor tends to swell them.

White shepard? You get it at NAPA. I don't like bandaid stuff, but if that's what you want.

Caster may be fine for seals, but doesn't stay mixed and is super sticky on the rings! I decarbon mine every 1000 miles and do a real cleanup to the ring lands, too. However I'm addicted to the smell. Is THAT wrong?

A "leak down" test only gives you an idea of ring seal in their respective bores.

A pressure/vacuum test is one that tests BOTH sides of two stroke seals and engine sealing integrity. Doing just a vacuum, or pressure test isn't doing it the way it should be done, seals need to seal BOTH directions.

There is NO way to recondition the rubber on seals, they need to be replaced if they are shot.

The thing is i am pretty sure my seals are good. I just can't do a leak down test untill i replace the top end gaskets. This was just something i thought of doing while apart. Good or not you know the seal got to be getting dry. Kind of a preventive measure.

That was a great link Looney Cylinders.

If the seals pass the pressure/vacuum test, I wouldn't do anything to them.
