Gedday all. Just visited a local old parts guy to get a barrel and noticed he had a 3 into 1 for sale. Doesn`t want much for it and looks intact although needs a tidy up. I have one rough repaired muffler on my H1E and we all know decent parts are rare and expensive. I had planned to get :eh: and will still eventually get chambers but this looks like an interesting option. What`s the scoop on 3 into 1`s. He says the guy he got it off had it running but I don`t see or hear of many and the dynamics of back pressure etc are complicated. What do you all think ? Steve.

Steve, they're known to look cool and sound great, and perform much worse than stock pipes.

the engine struggles at 6.000 rpm on a H2, should be the same on H1 but the sound is awesome even if the neighbours don't think so specially on the night 8-)

Yup, realy sweet sound. If it's a casual rider, maybe you'll like it. They are also rare enough to be cool. (Some of us older folks aren't requiring maximum power)

Ok then thanks for that. Personally I require full power although every time I use it it blows up. Last time the middle cyl . Looks like oil starvation which I can`t explain. Am rebuilding again now and will premix fuel and isolate the oil lines to some separate collection containers so as to check the flow etc. Book advises to run at 2000 rpm and manually turn the oil pump to full for 30 seconds to measure the flow. Passage to barrel is clear. Just can`t explain it, ran it in for several hundred K`s Ok. Can only try again, (for the third time).

i cant imagine anything more USELESS on a triple if it cuts out at 6000, when usually all the fun starts.
