Has anyone posted an image of a suspect, failed or repaired bracket?

It's the bracket that attached the damper to the frame. It's obvious what the problem is.

My H2 has been repaired and looks like they beefed it up, went home and checked it as soon as I read this.......broken bones or broken fins not good.

Mine broke off in the 70s. I just welded a new one on when I restored it last year, luckly it broke in my yard! Jack750

I take it y'all must get some wicked headshake? I have never had an issue with it (with no hydraulic damper) but then I have longer rear shocks and an 18" front

Wouldn't those mods make it more susceptible to tank slappers?
Anyway, same here with my 400 with longer shocks and my bike has been rock solid at high speeds. I did add a damper for insurance but keep it at the lowest setting just to keep the stress of the bracket to a minimum.

the safety way is to have no more hydraulic steering damper 8-)

My H2 is stable in general, but I use a damper. For around town I set it to its lowest position. For high speed I turn it up toward the high end of its adjustment. When leaned over pretty far in turns at high speed, big bumps in the road do try to cause some steering effects, and the damper helps. I also believe it's nice insurance against tank slappers.

I know there's disagreement about this, but there are guys on this board who know what they're doing and maintain their triples well, but who have been hurt by being thrown off their bike at high speed, due to tank slappers. One was started by a skid in a sharp turn, and the rider was badly injured and is still limping two years later. Another was started by crossing a railroad track that was wet and not perpendicular to the road. A third one I remember started at something around 100 mph on a dry road for no apparent reason, but that H2 had been known to wobble a little at high speed in the past.

I don't think triples are terribly worse in this regard than most other bikes, especially of that era, but a slapper can happen if a couple problems coincide at just the wrong time.
