Ive been having trouble off and on with the low end on my S2....finally, I read Mraxl's bit about removing 2 out of 3 plugs and tuning the carbs one at a time. Its not an ideal circumstance, but even my little S2 will run on one cylinder with the other 2 plugs out. Never could I get the thing to snap and sound quite normal but come on, its turning alot of dead weight....the idea was I got each cylinder the best I could....from the bottom on up on their own, and then when I put all the plugs in that was it. Pulled off VERY well, no bogging, no feathering of the clutch. a new tire and a smaller rear sprocket and I will be ready!

Good info!

That is a very interesting way to tune, glad to hear it worked!

I've been tempted to try that, but I was always concerned that by the time you got to cylinder number 2, it would be all full of raw gas and oil. Glad to hear it worked well.

I guess you could cut the fuel supply to the cylinders without the plugs?? I don't think the amount of oil injected in that short of a time would hurt things.

Also, just curious, why a smaller rear sprocket? Is the bottom end too strong now?

I want a smaller rear sprocket for the highway....I spend very little time on the highway with this thing, but it feels like I am going to hard on it to make it do 65. Just want it to work a little less....

oh yeah, dont get me wrong on the carb tuning, it was mostly the air screw that needed tweaking, I didnt change any jets at that point. but I found that different positions on the air screw actually affected the whole range and not just the first crack!
