installed a new clutch cable on a 74 h1 after a complete restoration and the clutch is really tight. During assembly, the clutch seemed to move without any problem. Any ideas?

Not sure what you mean by "tight"???
But if you haven't adjusted the clutch release mechanism after replacing the cable you haven't finished the job.
The answers to many of your questions and some you haven't thought of yet are here:

Any tight bends in the routing of the cable will cause you issues (likely happened when the gas tank was installed?). This often happens when lower than stock handle bars are installed. I suggest if the adjustment is correct you re-rout the cable to give the largest possible bends when the tank is on.

I just purchased a brand new clutch cable for the H2A, put it on and was hard to pull, Defect, put on the old one and its fine, they just don't make things like they used to. :banghead :banghead
