The left hand cylinder is now missing after I tried to tune the carbs. It was running ok, but had the wrong plugs in it, so I changed them all and the caps to B9HS. Its now miss firing on the left pot. I guess I could change the plug to start with as I assume all the electrics are ok. The timing is spot on according to glens manual for a KH500 and it was running really well.

Yep plug it was. Seems odd when they are brand new, that they can foul so easily. I guess its needs a good thrashing, which I have not been able to do as yet.
