P.K., I don't know about the H1E and KH500, but having just finished taking mine apart and rewinding it, I can say with absolute certainty that the H1F uses 5 of it's 6 coils for the charging system. Four of the coils are series-parallel like your picture shows, the 5th is used as a bucking coil. Electrical theory and how the system works aside, it is physically wired with 5 of the coils attached to the same two wires out of the stator housing(the yellow wires in this case). The 4 series-parallel coils are just epoxied wire, the 5th coil is cloth wrapped.

Clearly my assumptions was wrong. Learning something new every day.

Anyway, was it possible to see the wire gauge on the fifth charging coil?
Which one of the cloth wrapped coils is for the ignition?

As you know, 2 of the 6 coils are cloth wrapped. The one that is used for the charging system has bare enameled wires coming out on it. Although I didn't measure it, the wire gauge is slightly smaller than the other 4 charging coils, I'd guess 19ga or 20ga. The ignition coil is the wrapped coil that has insulated wires coming out of it. In the pic below, the 5th charging coil is at 7 o'clock, the ignition coil is at 9 o'clock(you can see it's two insulated wires coming out of the top of the coil, one going each direction).

OK, thanks for the information.

One further bit of information for you. I went out and measured, the wire on the 5th cloth wrapped coil is 21ga.
