Good tip to pass on Moo.....I first did that back in the 60's. Used some sort of gasket sealer. A small point but it also helps hold the clip in place while reaching for and using the pliers. I think a mechanic at the local Honda shop told me the trick after I had a chain fly off. I was a punk kid at the time.

I've had a clp come off, fairly recently, but I hadn't remembered to use this old trick. I was lucky to notice it gone before the master worked out.
