My mate is playing around with an H1A. It is a stock motor with pod filters, standard H1A carbs and chambers. He can get it to idle ok but not really do much beyond that. The poor bugger has had the carbs off and on a zillion times but is not sure what he should be aiming for with the main jets. He is wondering whether someone has been down a similar road and could give advice on what size mains to try.

Thanks

If it won't run past idle, he should look first at the air screw settings and pilot jet. After that, the main and clip settings can be addressed. A stock #30 pilot should be adequate but make sure all the little holes are clear. A 105 should be a good starting point for the main jet.

Clogged pipes or a faulty CDI could also be the problem.

Going to go with clogged pipes. I Had a 350 here that did just that and the one pipe had collapsed.
